2014 (MMXIV) was a common year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar, the 2014th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 14th year of the 3rd millennium, the 14th year of the 21st century, and the 5th year of the 2010s decade.
The year 2014 was the 43rd year after the independence of Bangladesh. It was also the first year of the third term of the Government of Sheikh Hasina.

- January 5 - General election in Bangladesh goes on per schedule in spite of boycott from the major opposition parties.[3]
February
- February 9 - The owners of Tazreen Fashions, Delwar Hossain and his wife Mahmuda Akter, hand themselves in to face charges of murder in relation to the death of 112 workers in a factory fire in Dhaka in November 2012.[4]
May
- May 15 - A ferry sinks on the Meghna River in Munshiganj District resulting in at least 12 deaths and hundreds missing.[5]
- May 16 - The ferry that sank on the Meghna River's death toll increased to 25.[5]
- May 17 - Officials call off rescue operations as 54 dead bodies recovered with an unknown number of people missing in a ferry disaster in the Meghna River.[6]
July
- July 8 - The United Nations Permanent Court of Arbitration rules in favour of Bangladesh in a border dispute with India over the Bay of Bengal.[7]
August
- August 4 - A ferry carrying about 200 passengers capsizes on the Padma River in Munshiganj District.[8]
- August 5 - Rescuers struggle to locate a sunken ferry in the Padma River leaving at least two people dead and many more missing.[9]
October
- October 20 - A collision between two buses on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway leaves at least 30 people dead.[10]
