Nocardia asteroides is a species of Nocardia.[1] It can cause nocardiosis, a severe pulmonary infection in immunocompromised hosts.[2]

Experiments in the field of astroecology have shown that Nocardia asteroides is able to live on the nutrients contained in a sample from a meteorite called the Murchison meteorite, when the meteorite sample was ground into a fine powder and supplemented by Earth's water and air. [3]
