Oil Region

The Oil Region is an unofficial region in the western part of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania that encompasses the land in and around the Oil Creek valley. It is so named because it includes the first oil fields discovered in the United States (see History of the petroleum industry in the United States).

The Drake Well Museum and Oil Creek State Park are located in this region, and it is encompassed by the Oil Region National Heritage Area.
