Ron Mott is an American television news correspondent. He currently works for NBC News, and is a regular contributor to Today, NBC Nightly News, and MSNBC.
Early life and education
Ron Mott was born in Kansas City, Kansas. He earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Missouri in 1994, and a master's degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, in 2001.[1]
Career
Mott began his career as a news reporter and anchor for KSHB in Kansas City, Missouri, and for WVNY in Burlington, Vermont.[2] He won a national Emmy for coverage of President Barack Obama's 2008 election, reporting from Africa. He's also received numerous Emmy nominations, including for his coverage of Hurricane Katrina.[3] He has been an NBC News correspondent since May 2005, and is based in Chicago. As of August 2019, he is a weekend anchor at WMAQ, the NBC affiliate in Chicago. He's also worked for the Kansas City Star/Times, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Kansas City Chiefs and for Jack Nicklaus-owned Executive Sports International.
