Controversies

In 2018 the journal was the target of a scholarly publishing sting, in which a hoax paper titled "An Ethnography of Breastaurant Masculinity: Themes of Objectification, Sexual Conquest, Male Control, and Masculine Toughness in a Sexually Objectifying Restaurant" was reviewed enthusiastically and accepted. The paper purported to have undertaken a two-year study involving “thematic analysis of table dialogue” to uncover the mystery of why heterosexual men like to eat at Hooters.[2][3][4][5]
