The Socialist Group was a short-lived Trotskyist group in Britain during the mid 1980s. Its publication was "Socialist Viewpoint".
It consisted of a group around best-known member Alan Thornett, who had been expelled or split from Sean Matgamna's Socialist Organiser Alliance/Workers Socialist League in 1984. It had significant bases in Oxford and Coventry.
It went on to fuse with the International Group to become the International Socialist Group in 1987.
