Valentin Le Du (French pronunciation: [valɑ̃tɛ̃ lə dy]; born 15 July 1992), better known by his stage name Vald, is a French rapper.[1]
Originating from Aulnay-sous-Bois, in Seine-Saint-Denis district of Île-de-France of a Breton father, he studied at Lycée privé catholique l'Espérance getting a Baccalauréat in the Sciences, then a semester in medicine before moving to Mathematics/Information graduating with a licence. He also studied sound engineering.
He started rapping at age 17 with the mixtapes NQNTMQMQMB (Ni Queue Ni Tête Mais Qui Met Quand Même Bien) in 2012, followed by mixtape Cours de rattrapage the same year. Both were reedited in 2016 in a double CD offered through his site. On 27 October 2014, he released his debut EP NQNT (Ni Queue Ni Tête) with the clip "Bonjour" gaining fame. The follow-up was the EP NQNT 2 on 25 September 2015. On 20 January 2017, he released his studio album Agartha on Mezoued Records & Suther Kane Films, and on Millenium, Capitol, Universal. It was certified platinum. A leak of materials resulted in the EP project NQNT 3. And on 2 February 2018, Vald presented his second album XEU with a number of collaborations with rappers Sirius, Suik'on Blaz AD and Sofiane. It was also certified platinum. This was soon followed by the mixtape NQNT33 in September 2018.
Vald has a son Charles, born 2014 from an earlier relationship.
