Yukihiro Takiguchi (Japanese: 滝口 幸広, Hepburn: Takiguchi Yukihiro, born May 29, 1985 in Chiba Prefecture) is a Japanese actor, best known for his role as Shuichiro Oishi during the 2006–2007 run of the stage adaptation of the anime The Prince of Tennis, Musical Tennis no Oujisama. He is one of the seven original members of the ikemen unit PureBOYS, though he graduated from the group in late March 2008. He starred as one of the major characters in two short TV dramas: Tadashii Ouji no Tsukurikata and Tokyo Ghost Trip. His last regular work in a series was as a regular on the Friday TV show Pochitama on TV Tokyo. In December 2008, he passed the examination to be recognized as a licensed chef.

Career

As a child, Takiguchi harbored dreamt of being an astronomer.[citation needed] However, in his senior year of high school, he decided he wanted to be an actor instead.[citation needed] Since then, he has been a talent under Stardust Promotion and was a part of a subgroup of the agency Nachural.[citation needed] He was also one of seven original members of an ikemen unit called PureBOYS, a group made up of select actors that use the Ameba blogging service, from June 2007 until his graduation from the group (by his own decision) on March 31, 2008.[citation needed] (The "graduation ceremony" was held on the March 28, 2008 episode of their weekly school-themed internet broadcast show Harajuku AmeSuta☆Gakuen.)[citation needed] Despite his graduation, he continued to appear on the show, only as Takiguchi-sensei instead of as a classmate. Finally, on June 27, 2008, he announced his permanent leave from the show.[citation needed]

He has also done some modeling work: a CM for McDonalds in 2005, the NOZOMI ISHIGURO SPRING&SUMMER 2007 COLLECTION』 Fashion Show in 2006, and the CM for JTBRyuu x Gakusei Ryuu in 2007.[1] In 2009, he was in one of the three CMs for the Hamanako Driving School.[2]

As Shuichiro Oishi in The Prince of Tennis Musicals

Takiguchi won the role of Shuichiro Oishi, Seigaku's motherly vice-captain, in early 2006, becoming the third actor to play Oishi in The Prince of Tennis Musicals (also known as TeniMyu)directed by Yukio Ueshima and based on The Prince of Tennis manga series by Takeshi Konomi.[3] He made his TeniMyu debut on August 3, 2006. The musicals he has performed in are as follows:

  • The Prince of Tennis Musical – Advancement Match Rokkaku feat. Hyoutei: August 3, 2006 – August 27, 2006[citation needed]
  • The Prince of Tennis Musical – Absolute King Rikkai feat. Rokkaku ~ First Service: December 13, 2006 – January 27, 2007[citation needed]
  • The Prince of Tennis Musical – Dream Live 4th: March 30, 2007 – March 31, 2007[citation needed]

  • The Prince of Tennis Musical – Absolute King Rikkai feat. Rokkaku ~ Second Service: August 2, 2007 – September 9, 2007[citation needed]

On September 9, 2007, Takiguchi graduated alongside his fellow 3rd Generation Seigaku regulars (except for Kaidou Kaoru actor Yanagishita Tomo).[citation needed]
