Zamzam Ibrahim is a student politician who is the President of the UK National Union of Students (NUS).[2] She succeeds Shakira Martin. She was formerly the NUS Vice President of Society & Citizenship.[3]
After her election, several media outlets including the Times, Telegraph and Independent published controversial social media posts she had made, calling for an "Islamic takeover".[4] Ibrahim had already received national media attention for the posts in her position at Salford Students' Union, speaking publicly about the "hate, rape and death threats and attempts to intimidate me out of the public discourse" that followed.
